Iradj Alexander David presents himself very elegantly on the phone. It seems that there is never a dull moment in your lives (we laugh). Congratulations, I imagine you feel satisfied with this new adventure...
"Very much so. An adventure that began seven years ago when I arrived at Wetag. At that time, I did not know if I would be able to handle real estate, but then I realized immediately, even with a bit of surprise, that it was the job of my life, the environment in which I wanted to grow and dedicate myself to."
First as the director of the Locarno office, now co-owner, a choice that was courageous in some ways...
"Courageous because first you are salaried, then you switch sides and among the many commitments, you also have to guarantee stability to the entire company. But I must be honest, the aspect that absolutely convinced me to become a co-owner was finding two people like Philipp and Ueli. A company is composed, in most cases, of more people, and when you have two partners you can rely on and who are professionally solid like them... everything becomes easier. I don't have a solo entrepreneurial character, I have always seen myself in activities with a team, I like to support my partners, and on the other hand, I also like to be supported. I believe that alone I would not be as complete as I am with them."
Ticino is small, and many know that you have a past as a professional athlete in the world of car racing, just like Philipp Peter. I imagine this is not a coincidence...
"First of all, I have a friendship of over twenty years with Philipp. We met back in 2000 in the field of car racing and had the fortune to share beautiful moments both in Europe and in America. It was Philipp who gave me the opportunity to be part of Wetag. He knew me as a friend and as a professional and always had the conviction that a driver knows how to satisfy many requirements necessary to face any professional adventure: we are used to traveling a lot, making sacrifices at the sports level, we are very disciplined and we must also be flexible; as if that were not enough, we must have good relationships with sponsors and teammates, a mix of characteristics suitable for facing every challenge. Today I am happy to have been able to demonstrate my value and also to be appreciated by Ueli, who clearly did not know me and was curious to see what I would do (he smiles). This is to say that I will always be grateful to both Philipp and Ueli."
New partner and new office in pole position in Ascona, Wetag never stops...
"Absolutely not (happy), and this is something I love. With Philipp, I had no doubts that it would always be like this because he is a person used to pushing the accelerator, while Ueli was a pleasant confirmation because with everything he has done at the private and professional level, he could slow down, but he is always motivated and open to new challenges, like that of Ascona. In any case, the new office has already been a great success in a few months, we have welcomed new clients, but also professionals such as lawyers, architects, and entrepreneurs. We expect further influx starting in April, when Ascona will be filled with tourists and potential buyers."
You have lived in Bellinzona, were born in Locarnese, and now live in Lugano with your wife and daughter. Where can we meet Iradj Alexander David?
"Today, from 8 am to 6 pm, you can find me in the Locarnese, an area that I love and know very well, also because I lived the first years of my life in Maggia and my maternal grandparents were from Solduno, so there is also an emotional aspect to consider. For the rest of the time, I am in the Luganese, at home with my wife and my daughter who have always encouraged and supported me in this new work experience.“
Wetag Bellinzona?
(He laughs). "Now, given the type of clientele, it doesn't make sense to have a Wetag Bellinzona, but we are still present in the Bellinzonese area with properties that meet the needs of our clients. In any case, we are noticing increasing interest in the beautiful region of Bellinzonese and we are observing with curiosity what is happening."
